"Oh my god... It's a.... SHOE!"  Sunday, April 18, 2004 12:17 p.m.

Just a reminder that the title quote is NOT how you should announce something to the driver when turning a blind corner in the middle of the night. ^_^*

So... I've been silent for a while. Well, with being at school only periodically, I don't really have a whole lot to say, since it seems things of interest only happen here.

But, I finished the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. And there was much rejoicing. I know I only need a 50% or so to pass it, and given the questions... hopefully I made that. The ones in the Civil section... psh, I just put down random answers. I don't know squat about beam stress, and being a Computer Engineer, I'll likely never care. They gave me false hope by starting out the test with the math and electrical sections, which I just breezed through, and proceeded to lump all that mechanical crap together in the middle. And then there was some question asking for the "work done to the disk", and all the possible answers were in Joules. ... That's like asking "how fast was he going" and asking for an answer in feet. And then I had to combine the numbers 5 and 430 (linearly) and somehow get an answer on the order of 4.3 quintillion. ... Yah. I was confuzzled greatly on some of those questions.

There was a job fair a few days ago, and one of the companies actually seemed interested in me! There's a first. They were like, "Wow, you're already graduated? We can hire you now?! Cool!" ... Granted, I haven't heard anything from them since, but... I'm keeping my fingers crossed, ESPECIALLY since the stuff that they wanted me to do was right along the lines of what I've already been doing (MATLAB simulation, programmable chips, etc).

... I need someone to get me a picture of BatSammy. I KNOW some have to exist. See, apparently there's been some sort of fundraiser going on for Relay for Life, and if we met our goal, then Sammy would dress up as someone. And... he dressed up as Batman, and proceeded to walk around campus like that all day, including teaching his classes as such (MAN, how I wish I could have had a Sammy class as a free elective, but nooo, he wasn't teaching anything my last quarter here). Man, somehow I doubt that the new school president will ever be as cool as Sammy, but considering he'll take over after I'm gone, I guess I'll never know.

Let's see... ah, there's also been the whole fiasco with random wild animals lately. First, the cat brings home two little presents in one day, and proceeds to eat them both. And one was a friggin' rabbit, but she ate the whole thing, aside from an ear and a foot. Then we had a raccoon visit our bird feeder. I've never seen a live raccoon before. They're always dead on the side of the road -_-. Then, when I got here, I found out that during spring break, apparently the geese figured that a prime nesting spot was right next to the sidewalk in front of the Union (since there were no people around at that time). So, they set up shop, and when everyone got back, no one could even get NEAR the Union without their shins getting nipped off. So, they put up this fence around the goose nest. I think they got rid of the nest soon after that, though, because now both the fence and the geese are gone. Ah well.

Hm... anything else? There's going to be a fourth Inuyasha movie, but... that's all we know right now. That there will be a fourth one. ^_^* They haven't even updated the official website about it yet, there was just a little "oh, by the way" blurb in Shounen Sunday last week. The anime will finally be coming back to TV in Japan tomorrow, but it's another filler episode -_-. Thankfully, they go back to canon after that for the rest of the forseeable future, which is nice because that means they can get to the Otherworld battle in about a month and a half (hopefully the anime can spice it up a bit. It was kinda anticlimactic in the manga).

Well, lunch. Kathy's out of town for the weekend, so I've basically assumed her identity to get into the cafeteria (i.e. I scan her ID :P). With that said, it's lunch time!

"And that's how I got this Illuminati sandwich."  Sunday, March 14, 2004 09:39 p.m.

So, I haven't said anything in her for a month. In the interim, I've graduated from college and moved back home. Still no job, though.

So, this morning I was woken up at 6:30 in the morning with the news that my sister had gotten in another car accident. Nothing major; she just slid into a ditch. The car wasn't even damaged. But, for some reason, my mom thought that I needed to ride along while she picked my sister up, got a tow truck, and drove my sister to work. I never left the back seat of the car. I love being useless. -_-*

I finally rented the Cowboy Bebop movie so that I could watch the dub. It wasn't half bad, but given the dub of the TV series, it's not like I had anything to be worried about. I watched the Laputa dub again last week, which was another good one, except Pazu just sounds wrong not being voiced by Luffy.

This evening, I FINALLY got to see "Return of the King". It originally came out during Christmastime, so things were way too hectic for me to make time to see it and find someone to see it with me (I hate going to theaters alone). My mom and I had tried to see it, but the newspaper listed the wrong times, so we missed it (or, actually, got there two hours early and didn't feel like waiting that late to see it. It's a three-hour movie, after all). But, thankfully for all its Oscar wins, it got sent back to the theaters, so I was able to go see it. The papers STILL printed the wrong times, but they were only a half hour off, so I ended up missing the trailers and maybe the first minute of the movie. I don't think I missed anything important, though.

And, maybe it was just the screenwriters messing with the book (which I haven't read), but... what was the point of saving Faramir? They made this whole big deal of getting him off the pyre because he was still alive, which I guess was a nice thing to do, but then he proceeded to not be in the rest of the movie, so it seemed like a waste to have him not dead in the first place. And what happened to all the rest of the Wraiths? They killed one, but if I recall correctly, there were nine of them...

Anyway, so, I'm sleepy, what with getting up at 6:30 in the morning and getting dragged around town for no particular reason. While we were waiting for the tow truck, my sister proceeded to relate all of her tales of encounters with police, and I just had to wonder how she can have so many and I have none. And I'm four years older than her.

"We're suffering from irregular vowel movements."  Sunday, February 15, 2004 05:29 p.m.

The story behind the title quote is almost as amusing as the title quote itself.

So, I finally get fed up with my laptop's flakey network connection and take it down to the computing center to get fixed. It had the same issue as last year, with the mother board going splat and them replacing the DC power jack for good measure, blah blah. They also installed a buttload of Microsoft updates, which ate up my hard drive space. Although it seems to have fixed a couple of quirks, like the random icon generator (I actually kinda liked that one :P), it also gave me new quirks, like freezing IE or randomly booting the floppy drive. However, the strangest quirk was the desensitizing of the letter "e". So, now whenever I type "e" on the keyboard, I have maybe a one in three chance of it showing up. But... since when does one random letter on the keyboard have anything to do with the motherboard or the OS?

And that's only half the story. My roommate had been having a similar problem with a flakey network jack (apparently it's a chronic problem with our generation of laptops), so took it to the computing center to get it fixed. Since hers was going in for the same thing mine was, and would thus likely have the same fix, I commented, "Watch yours come back and lose functionality of 'a' or something."

Sure enough, she got her laptop back, and not only did she have one random dysfunctional key, it was indeed the letter "a". Except, her key had become hyper-sensitized, so she just had to brush her finger over it and get a whole string of "a"s across the screen. So, between the two of us, I guess we have functioning keys, since I'll get one "e" every three tries, and she'll get three "a"s every one try, so...

Yes, we certainly are having some irregular vowel movements.

"You don't need a mechanic. You need an exorcist."  Monday, January 26, 2004 11:19 p.m.

Said in response to my roommate's car not having its greatest of weeks. Apparently she turned it on one day and all the electrical equipment (lights, radio, windshield wipers) came on, even though they were all in their "off" settings.

Anyway... what's been going on this week? I don't remember. Had a test today. It was easy. Worked on lab. Finally got it working. This lab has been giving us issues. We spent all of last week puzzling over why it wouldn't work, when it turned out we had, of all things, a bad WIRE. Now, usually, first you blame the program. If that checks out, then you blame your hardware hookup. If that's okay, then you blame a chip frying. If that's okay, then... you blame little ghosts or something, because the wires are usually a given. It's like saying your car won't run because the road doesn't work. ... Strange how my lab kinda strayed back onto the title quote topic.

I got the second Wolf's Rain soundtrack a couple days ago. I like it leaps and bounds better than the first one. The first one had maybe three or four memorable tracks on it. I like almost every track on this one. "Heaven's not Enough" and "Tell Me What the Rain Knows" are kickass songs, and all the instrumental BGM on this one rocks (I love "Night Owl"). Speaking of Wolf's Rain, that's gonna start on Cartoon Network in April, alongside new episodes of Inuyasha. Not to metion Detective Conan. Man, I've got a lot to look forward to. Hopefully I'll be somewhere with a cable connection. ^_^

It finally snowed here yesterday for the first time all winter. We're apparently going to get more tonight. I don't particularly mind the snow, but they do a pretty crappy job clearing it out. And now that there's snow on the lake, the morons who insist on walking on it can't see the parts where the ice gets thin anymore (there's still parts that are water, for crying out loud). If you step on a frozen lake and it goes "doink", that's usually not a good sign. At least to me. To them, it's a sign to go get their BIKES and ride them on the ice. Yes, let's focus all our weight on two small points. Let's bounce and pop a wheely while we're at it. Doink doink doink.

I'm going to laugh when someone falls in. At least for a little bit.

"That's not skill! That's... puberty!"  Saturday, January 17, 2004 12:08 p.m.

^_^* Yesterday... was generally just a really weird day. It also marked the day of a lot of firsts for me.

So, I leave school Thursday after class to drive up to Ft. Wayne for the Career Day thingy at ITT. Nothing terribly exciting there. But it did mark the first time I've ever spent the night in a hotel by myself. Of course, I was so beat when I got there, I didn't really care, and just showered and fell right to sleep.

Then there was the actual symposium thingy on Friday morning. It was the first time I wore my new black pants! They didn't help with the cold weather, though, since it was oddly about 20 degrees colder in Ft. Wayne than in Terre Haute, plus there was snow there. But it was also the first time I've ever had to take a road trip for a job function.

Actually, it was my first job function, period. First time I've ever had face-to-face interviews, too. Whee!

So, after that was done, I headed back to the Haute. If there was any bad traffic, it was always going the other way. Of course, we all should know by now that there is NOTHING unusual about that particular thing happening to me. ^_^*

I got back in time for dinner, to boot, so I didn't have to worry about finding food for myself. I wasn't terribly hungry after my road trip, though, but I ate a light dinner, anyway.

After dinner, a guy asked me to go to the ballroom dancing lesson with him. Uh... Well, I had anime club, so I had a legitimate excuse. Except I ended up skipping the second half of club since I was still tired from the drive (besides, it was Gasaraki, and I'm not much of a mech/war anime fan).

I was hungry again, though, which then marked my first time buying food from the Worx. Yes, that's very exciting. I got a pretzel. It cost me $1.20. Yessir, I was certainly making history last night. And, once I got back to my room, instead of going to sleep, I drew up a filler comic for LWT instead. Dunno if it'll actuall get put up, though. Colin's usually happy to get anything from us, though.

And, so, finally, I went to bed. But nooo, that ended up being the precursor to the weirdest part of the day. At approximately 3:00 in the morning, some random guy just wandered into our room, looked around, then wandered out. Judging by his actions, I'm pretty sure it was an accident and he was just drunk or tired and just went into the wrong room, but... it was still kinda funny. We just shrugged, closed the door, and went back to sleep. ^_^*

"I need some store chairage."  Wednesday, January 7, 2004 12:28 p.m.

Back at school agaaaiiiinnn. My right hand seems to have developed a twitch over break. Hopefully that doesn't interfere with my drawing ability. It hasn't so far.

I've got lab in an hour, where we'll continue to work on our barcode-scanning thingamadoohickey. We got it to actually take data the last time around, so hopefully that means we can make decent progress this week. Then there's that Matlab project for 380, but... it's basically the same thing as the program I wrote for senior project, just less advanced, so it's not like THAT's going to take much brain power.

And hooray for driving luck again. I guess it was a good thing I came back to campus on Saturday, where all I had to deal with was the occasional drizzle (the parking lot was still a mud pit, though). I have YET to find someone who came back Sunday who didn't have travel issues. One neighbor's flight got cancelled and her luggage was lost for a while, so when she finally DID get back to campus 10 hours late, she had no clothes or books, since that was all in her suitcase. -_-*. My other neighbor made it most of the way here, then had her car sink in the mud in the parking lot, which had become more of a soup due to the massive amounts of rain we got on Sunday. My roommate didn't even come back Sunday (like she was supposed to) because, while we got rain, she got freezing rain, and was therefore iced in at home and physically could not return until Monday evening. It sounds like we got a big snow dump the day after I left back home as well, so that's another good thing that I got out of there on Saturday.

The lake finally froze last night, thanks to it being all of 2 degrees above zero. It's not nearly frozen enough to walk on yet (like last year), but at least now I can throw acorns at the lake and listen to the "doink". ^_^

"Be careful with this lab, as there is the potential for dying."  Sunday, December 21, 2003 09:49 p.m.

Iiiiit's break time again. Rose has some very oddly-timed vacations. Seems like I was just home a few weeks ago. Oh, wait, I was.

So, it's my last quarter of college. I don't think I've quite caught the whole senioritis thing yet, since I'm still doing all my work. Or, at least, I would be, if I wasn't on break and all. And break itself is pretty boring so far. My sister had surgery on her hand a few days ago, so is cooped up at home until she can take the brace off. And I'm cooped up at home... because I don't have anyplace better to be? Well, I am getting together with people tomorrow, which will be nice. I'll actually get out of the house!

So, yeah, the third Inuyasha movie finally came out yesterday. Not that that means much to me, since it's not like I can go see it. I can just know that someone, somewhere, is watching it, and having a blast. Waaah, I wanna see it, too! All the reviews so far have been extremely positive. Granted, they were all Fluffy fans to begin with, but typically fans are the ones who are the most critical of what they like. I have the movie OST, though, so I can just listen to it and imagine what's going on. Some of the tracks do provide hints, but it's pretty much just either "evil" music or "battle" music through and through. Although the main title music is the best re-mix of the Inuyasha theme EVER. It's like... Inuyasha's theme meets Miroku's theme, and they hang out together and get drunk.

The whole "driving luck" thing happened yet again on the way home this time. While I did run into a bit of inclement weather around Fort Wayne, on the whole, it wasn't too bad. However, the whole "it's always on the other side" thing took an absolutely ridiculous turn this time around. Usually it's an accident or construction or a pulled-over car (which there were an unusually high number of this weekend) or whatever on the other side of the road, but this time it was... snow. As in a snow storm. Since lake-effect snow tends to come in narrow bands, the edge of the band apparently stopped right at the median of the highway, so it was snowing on one side, but not the other. Sigh... ^_^*. With "it's always on the other side", I tend to think "it" refers to some traffic anomaly, but apparently "it" now refers to weather as well.

"I suppose there was a somewhat lack of suckage."  Thursday, December 4, 2003 11:08 p.m.

Well, that was exciting. Tonight was the big Christmas party thing that I guess kind of doubled as a going-away party for Sammy, but... whatever. We were supposed to get the good food that the guests got, but nooooo, we got landed with ARA pizza instead. Mmmm.... ARA pizza... And then we played our band instrumenty things for the peoples and they clapped. Woo. It wasn't too bad, but the arrangement could have been better. I had a guy sitting two feet in front of me casually eating Tira Misu whilst I played Christmas carols at him. And all I could think about was that dang ARA pizza, and how WE weren't good enough for Tira Misu. Or even breadsticks. Or a salad.

Of course, once the whole thing was done, we wandered back to the band room with our instruments and music and stands in had... and found that the band room door was locked. So, we proceeded to wait for someone with a key to show up. But we got bored of that, so began belting out every showtune we knew, much to the charign of the choir next door. I think we got through the entire score of "Phantom of the Opera", and I did quite a few from "Man of LaMancha", plus a couple from "Cats". Finally, my throat hurt, I went to get a drink, and happened to run into the custodian who had been sitting there laughing at our horrible singing the whole time, and who also happened to have a key. So, Hatfield Hall was further spared the off-key serenading from the Rose-Hulman Concert Band.

Whoops, time to smite. The irritating freshman down the hall is once again thumping his "music" at excessive decibels, even after quiet hours. You'd think that after ten weeks he'd realize that yes, there are other people living in this dorm, and no, they don't appreciate his gift of noise.

Aaaanyway, aside from that one major nuisance, this quarter's shaping up to be pretty easy. And once it's done... I'm done. Gah, I'm graduating in less than three months. That's kinda scary. I've got a career symposium in Ft. Wayne in January, but I don't really know if I want to work there. They're an aerospace company who designs satellites and whatnot, and while that's cool and all, I'm kinda looking more into the home-appliance field, like desktop computers or DVD players. But, I won't know for sure until I actually see some stuff in action, so this should be good.

In other completely unrelated news, Inuyasha 135 is officially the most insane episode ever.

Oekaki BBS

"Ano yo de fue demo fuiteiro."  Wednesday, November 26, 2003 11:20 p.m.

::stretch stretch:: Urrhhmmm... break's almost over. Ah well. I kinda miss school already. I'll probably go nuts after I graduate in a couple months and never have school again. That'll be weird. I'm really sleepy right now, but Inuyasha's on in a half hour and I need to tape it. I'd just program the VCR, but the remote has gone missing, so all I've got is the record button on the console itself. ::yawn::

And tomorrow's Thanksgiving, too. I'll probably have to get up early to help my mom make food, especially since she apparently threw her back out again, and my sister's sick. Sigh... On the bright side, Patches (not me, the cat) has been unusually happy to see me the entire time I've been here, so I've spent most of break with her in my lap.

Oh, and to all those people who find this blog searching for "Inuyasha coloring pages" or the sort, your search is fruitless no more. I finally scanned a couple of pages from the coloring book while I was at home and posted them up on my site. I got mostly group shots, just so every character could be represented in the least amount of pictures. Although Inuyasha's in every picture except one.

Oh yeah, that "Sesshoumaru o Aishita Onna" TV special was on on Monday, so I got to see that yesterday. According to Christy, it had a 95% chance of being lame, and it amazingly made it into the 5% of non-lame-ness. The filler writers regained my respect with 128, lost it with 129 and 130, and then regained it again with this episode. C'mon, guys, work the shakiness out and make 'em all that good! But... man, it was good. I liked it. And the more I think about it, the more I like it. Particularly their use of "every exit is simply an entrance somewhere else" philosophy, as we got a little bit of insight on what Sessho was up to between episodes, which was a NICE touch. Not to mention the animation (at least in the last half) was downright spectacular.

::yawn:: So, yeah. I'd really like to go to bed, but I'd also like tonight's episode on tape. Ah, sacrifices. But there's only one more episode after this one that I need to tape, and then it's happy sleepy time.

Oekaki BBS

"Then she gave him a carroty chop to the neck."  Thursday, November 20, 2003 08:54 p.m.

Well, the quarter's over, I'm at home, and I suddenly have nothing to do. Well, besides comic, but I'm feeling too lazy to do anything productive. :P I need to mess with that Inuyasha doujinshi I'd promised I'd do, too. I have a rough story idea drafted in my head, and it gets more and more insane the more times I think over it, so... it should hopefully be pretty decent.

The dubbed episodes of Inu that I missed during all the other runs are miraculously ALL going to be on while I'm at home, so I'll FINALLY get to see them. Plus, that one-hour special's going to be on on Monday in Japan, and I'd really like to nab that once it gets out on the 'net later in the day.

In the meantime, I've been entertaining myself with Gunbound. With Ragnarok mostly out of the picture, I decided to move on to a different free online Korean game. This one's not an RPG, it's... well... it reminds me of Worms. You're a little chibi person on a chibi tank firing chibi missiles at other people. It's about as objective-less as Ragnarok, but has the bonus aspect of actually playing against other living people. And killing things takes a little more thought than control-clicking.

The cat seems happy that I'm home. She's currently laying between me and the keyboard, making typing somewhat uncomfortable. Ah well.

"I can't stay, so... SUPER DUCK will give you the test."  Tuesday, November 4, 2003 10:08 p.m.

Ah, with exam week only two weeks away, we're reminiscing about exam oddities from years past. The quote above comes from a CS exam, in which the prof ran into the room, stated the line above, left a rubber ducky on the table to watch the class, then left. That wasn't in one of MY classes, unfortunately. The weirdest one I ever had was freshman year, when the prof said, "If you're taking too much time on the last problem, here's the answer." Ah, Differential Equations II.

I really haven't said much in here lately, but since I've moved all my Inuyasha news to a different site... that seems to be all I'd blogged about as of late. ^_^*. But now I can blog about evil projects, which I have an abundance of. There's only a week and a half left of class, after all.

First off, is the darn Matlab project. The prof gave us some functions to use... but they don't work. I mean, you run them, and they just spit back syntax errors, like he forgot a parenthesis in his code or something. So, now we have to debug both our code and his. Debugging someone else's code is no fun, since you have NO clue what they were thinking when writing it.

Then there's the graphics project, which we haven't even really started on. We're gonna make a picture of a bunch of smiley-faced monoliths. Because we're just crazy like that.

It was hot today. I don't like hot weather. However, the high temperature tomorrow is supposed to be about 25 degrees colder than today's. And today, I think we broke the old record high by about four degrees. Coupled with the fact that they turned the heat on in the buildings a month ago when it started getting cold. But no, now it's warm again.

Big O finally ended. It was trippy. And Adult Swim did one of the most evil things I've ever seen, but in hindsight... it was actually pretty funny. ^_^*.

Oh yeah... I have to act in a play next week, too... Haven't even rehearsed yet. Heh heh.

Ganbare, Pa-cchan.

"My mind is no longer a virgin."  Tuesday, October 21, 2003 03:28 p.m.

Heh, that quote was one of the more amusing ways to get around using an explative when talking about what a mind**** these last few episodes of Big O have been. And, 'tis true, they have been making my brain cry. But it's all good. Only one episode left... I finally got to see the episode I missed way back towards the beginning, and hooo boy, am I sorry I missed it. Afro Beck! Mwahahaha!

So... where'd my last entry go? It was two weeks old, but still... I didn't think that a server crash would lose something that old. Ah well. I don't think anything important was in it, other than pointing out that I started a new site where all my Inuyasha information would go, which you can find in the link bar to the left.

So, had break, came back from break, lah de dah. And now I've got a bunch of final projects assigned. They don't sound all that bad, though, but I haven't actually started any of them yet, considering I only got the assignments today.

Ha ha, people are finding this site looking for the Rose webcomic. Colin would be proud. Anyway, it's here, for future reference. There's not a whole lot there at the moment, and I'll likely change the art style for my next strip, since tracing and cleaning up the whole thing in Photoshop is way more effort than it's worth, and I ended up liking the sketchy look better.

Man, and I've been suckered into an IY doujinshi contest as well. Thankfully, I have a week and a half of quarter break before it's due, so unless I procrastinate, which is a distinct possibility, I'll hopefully have time to mess with it then, considering these projects that have been suddenly heaped upon me aren't going to leave me very many free evenings. I need to brush up on drawing the characters, too, since the youkai characters are currently the only ones I know how to draw.

Aaaand, then there's the career fair tomorrow. I need a job. My resume isn't exactly impressive, though, since I've only ever had campus jobs, and have never been able to land an internship with an actual company, so I still have no real-world experience. Blah.

"Mmm... liquid sleep."  Tuesday, September 30, 2003 09:40 p.m.

... Said in reference to a can of Mountain Dew, ironically. -_-*

I remember that there were multiple things I'd wanted to say, since it's been a week since I last updated, but now that I'm sitting here typing, I can't remember a thing. Silly memory. Come back to me!

Well, I know I wanted to post the school paper's Top 10 List from this week, since it was actually pretty darn funny, mostly because everything on it is absolutely true:

Top Ten Reasons to Send E-mail to all.students
10. The SRC pool will be closed from 10:15 to 10:30 Monday morning
9. Lost keys have been found, please call off the search and rescue teams
8. Send first, think later!
7. You need to communicate with a select group of thirty, but can't be bothered to create a mailing list
6. Job opportunity: Local business seeks Rose stuents to haul lumber
5. DO NOT READ THIS REASON UNLESS YOU ARE A CO-OP STUDENT
4. Fw: [Fwd: Re: [FW: Can you sent this to all.students? Thanks]]
3. IAIT guidelines for sending attachments in bulk e-mail don't apply to you
2. Need to make a correction to the correction to the e-mail you sent five minutes ago
1. You failed Business Ethics 101 and have no remorse for it

I always wondered why they didn't have a co-op mailing list. At least they finally got a student worker mailing list so they've stopped reminding the entire student body to turn in their time sheets every week.

I had my first test of the year yesterday, and it actually wasn't too bad. It also took the place of the Matlab project this week, which gives me one less thing to worry about. That means all I've gotta do is the OpenGL project for Graphics. Hm, maybe I'll even have time to work on the comic. It's supposed to be done by this weekend, but I don't know how well I'm gonna pull that off ^_^*. I've been too busy slacking. And instead of drawing comic, I end up drawing silly cute things like this:

"We're recycling cowboys by floating them out to sea."  Tuesday, September 23, 2003 02:02 p.m.

Don't... ask. The title quote comes from a crazy and weird conversation at lunch that I don't understand at all. Ah, school. I suddenly have a much richer picking of title quote fodder now that I'm back. Maybe I should actually update this thingy more often to get more use out of them.

Apparently the guys are really pushing forward with their whole webcomic thing, and I've been assigned to do some of the artwork for it. Loree is doing most of the artwork, but she just sent me her character designs so that I had something to work off of. Hopefully I have time this week to actually do something with it, since I've got a bunch of stuff due Thursday and Friday. Okay, so the Friday thing isn't that big a deal, since it's just a weekly paper that I have traditionally spent less than a half hour on, but still...

Bwaaahhhh... IY's finished it's new season on Cartoon Network, and it won't start running in Japan again until the 13th of October. The latest manga chapter will come out... within the hour... but that's in Japan, so I won't actually be able to see it until Friday-ish. And they're on another Kohaku kick right now, and sorry to say, Kohaku isn't exactly my favorite character. Yeah, he's tragic and all, but his predicament has lasted the whole friggin' series, so they really just need to either kill him or have Fluffy bring him fully back to life.

I have a senior project meeting in an hour, and then a special dinner thing for the female Computer Engineering majors (of which there's apparently a scant number of). But, due to the project, I was informed that the control system for the clock tower is insanely easy to hack into, and thus just about anyone can change the time or make the bells ring at will. I tried it, and while I could get into the control panel frightfully easily, I didn't mess with anything, since that would just be immature. Besides, our project is to revamp this to prevent this sort of thing from happening.

EDIT: ... Man, I did it AGAIN. I thought it was wishful thinking that we'd get more "Tenkahadou no Ken" information while the series was on break, but nooooooo, they go and give us new info, anyway. Not much at the moment, but apparently there'll be more next Sunday. But what we do know is that the official premiere date is December 20th, and Namie Amuro will be singing the theme song, "Four Seasons". And there's this random mention of the name "Izayoi", whom I'm currently assuming to be Inuyasha's mother.

I should go back and count how many times I say "I wish..." or "It would be nice if..." or make some other complaint that I don't honestly expect to be resolved and yet have it miraculously resolved by the next blog entry. It happens a LOT (although I don't note all of the successes).

"Who is John? I am the Hand of God!"  Tuesday, September 16, 2003 11:41 p.m.

Yuuup, I finally got the last set of Berserk outtakes. Whee! Griffith once again proves that he knows more showtunes than is healthy for a person, breaking into song no fewer than four times in this set. ^_^*

So, no new Inuyasha for a while. Episode 127 aired yesterday, so nabbed the raw of that. The next episode won't air until the 13th of October. And CN's run of new episodes ends on Thursday, so I'll have nothing but new manga chapters to tide me over until then. Ah well. It's not the end of the world. Maybe there'll be some new movie information in the interim, but I doubt it. They're really keeping this one bottled up.

Also got to see "Neko no Ongaeshi", finally. The movie was cute, yet disturbing. And the subbing job... was not exactly the greatest thing in the world. I guess I'm too spoiled with Fangirl Friday's superior fansubbing that I forget that there's still those groups out there that like to insert swearing wherever possible, even in a Ghibli film. But it had Secret Service cats! They had black suits and earpieces, to boot. And Baron kicks butt. I really need to see "Mimi o Sumaseba", since that's where he was first introduced.

"Stupid stalker harpsichords..."  Thursday, September 11, 2003 08:34 p.m.

Laa. Haven't really updated this thing in, like, a week and a half. School's back in swing, and while I haven't exactly had much work yet, I'm sure more will be coming once we get into a routine.

Speaking of work... I have a job! A campus job! Wheee! So I only work three hours a week, but it's better than nothing. I just wish finding a job in the real world was that easy. I just went into the office and said, "Hey, can I have a job?" and they said "Okay." And that's all there was to it.

I have a paper I should be writing, but I really don't feel like it right now. And I'll have one due every Friday, too. Blah. At least they're short. But writing my thoughts on what I read is not exactly my forte, unless I'm being cynical (thus MSTs). I suppose I could write a cynical response to Oedipus Rex, but I don't think that would go over too well with the prof. Oedipus Rex the MST!

Huh. FGF's come back from the dead, but they still haven't released IY 121. Not that it really matters, since I've seen up through 126 now. And 127 is filler, which should prove to be insane, non-canon, and most likely out of character. I dunno, I don't really fancy the IY filler as much as I do filler for other series. But maybe Kouga will have a filler episode, considering he STILL hasn't shown up in the story between where the anime is currently and where the manga is currently.

But, at least Zach and Blue got their cable box, so I've got guaranteed Inuyasha every night, plus guaranteed Big O on the weekends. I just can't tape them (well, I COULD, since I DID tape IY episode 45 for the sake of making sounds, but it's kind of a hassle). At this point, the dub is kinda shaky in the fact that the acting's gotten a whole lot better, and the pronounciation WAS getting better up until a couple of episodes ago, when they decided to revert to pronouncing any "-maru" name as awkwardly as possible. And while the acting IS improving, they still occasionally have a couple lines per episode that just scream, "Yes, I'm just reading this off a page."

Man, lots of people have been searching for Inuyasha coloring book scans. Didn't know such a thing was so popular. Coloring book, yes I have. Scans, no. But, I suppose I could make some. Where to put them, however, remains a mystery.

"Does Father get to be in the movie, too?!"  Monday, September 1, 2003 01:15 p.m.

God, that was one of the most randomly hilarious things I've heard in a while. I'd known that the Japanese DVD of the second Inuyasha movie came with a bonus drama CD, but I'd figured it was mostly seiyuu interviews, talkbacks, and audio from the movie. Well, indeed, that's pretty much what it was... plus an omake track. A really crazy omake track. A really crazy Sesshoumaru omake track.

Summary of the parody track: It starts out with a parody of the fourth opening, "Grip!", with Sesshoumaru's group doing the narrations instead of Inuyasha's (plus Jaken sings a messed-up version of the theme song). Turns out that Fluffy's irate that he got shafted in the second movie, so Jaken decides to take over the show. They kill a couple of the producers and decide to go after Takahashi herself, but then Inuyasha's group shows up to stop them. There's some amusing arguing over who's the real main character of the series, but Sesshoumaru decides to kill them all so that he'll have no competition for main character status. To quell his anger, Kagome gives him the scenario for the third Inuyasha movie, in which Sesshoumaru, of course, has a MUCH bigger role. Fluffy seems content with this, so leaves... and then we get "Sesshoumaru no Tsubo" at the end, which is just goofy.
"In the well is... this guy!"
"'This guy' doesn't work very well for a CD drama..."
The most amusing thing was that Narita Ken still managed to play his part straight, even when given all these goofy lines (okay, there were a couple times when he sounded like he was about to crack. He just sounded strangely... giddy... when saying the quote in the title). Plus, the drama hinted at one new tidbit of information on the third movie, since the character in the well in "Sesshoumaru no Tsubo" was someone named "Setsuna no Takemaru", who's apparently the villain in the new movie (ha, I KNEW Fluffy wouldn't be the head bad guy. He's too apathetic).

Man, it has just been raining non-stop here for the past two days. We've gotten, like, six inches of rain, and there's more coming. Now I'm even gladder I got back on Saturday, when the weather was still agreeable, so getting all my stuff into the dorm wasn't as much of a problem (although the crappy parking arrangement made it difficult, regardless). The creek hasn't flooded yet, but it hardly ever does, even that one night freshman year when we got nine inches of rain in one night. But just about all the rooms in the dorm are leaking. Except ours, apparently.

I wasn't able to catch Big O last night, since there were hall meetings for all the freshmen, so all the lobbies were taken. Well, except those in New Res, I'd assume, since that dorm's all sophomores, but... I didn't feel like trekking all the way over there in this weather. Apparently Zach and Blue are getting a cable box for their room, so such a thing shouldn't be a problem in the future.

"That's unbelievable. I believe you, but that's just unbelievable."  Saturday, August 30, 2003 10:38 p.m.

Yay, back at school for my final year. Seems that they decided that my dorm's parking lot should no longer be used for parking, but neglected to inform anyone who would actually be living here. So, now I have to park across the creek. At least they made the new parking lot before destroying the old one.

I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to get back on the internet when I got here, because they're re-registering network cards. However, to do so, we had to go to the school's website where an automated scan would make sure we weren't susceptible to worm attacks (since I'm still running Win98, I was already okay). Thankfully, it really WAS checking susceptibility, and not whether or not we had the WinXP patch (which I do not because of, you know, that whole Win98 thing), so I was able to pass the test and get back online. Whee me. Currently, none of the freshmen have their computers, and most of the upperclassmen are off-campus, so we have the entire campus network all to ourselves tonight. ... Kinda makes me wish there was something to download, but alas, I got the sub of IY 122 this morning before I left (I still haven't seen 121, though -_-). So, that means I'm caught up on subs, and can just get raws from here on out.

As for the quote above, that was in reference to the construction I hit on the way down here. Or, rather, lack thereof. Yes, there was some construction, but there was so little traffic, none of it was a big deal. And even though everyone had complained earlier about the construction in Anderson, when I got there this afternoon, there weren't even any pylons to even suggest there had been a construction site there. Which is weird, because my roommate came back yesterday, and she said she was stuck in that construction for a half hour. My trip, on the other hand, was completely uneventful (of course... should I really be expecting any less?). And gas down here is friggin' 30 cents cheaper than at home! I mean, it usually IS cheaper here, but typically only by 15 cents at the most.

So, yay. No construction. Cheap(er) gas. Internet connection. Seems like a pretty decent start to the school year!

"MC Hammer pants. Bright red Hammer pants."  Wednesday, August 27, 2003 02:05 p.m.

Argh. I attempted to update this yesterday, but Pitas ate my update when I submitted it. So... let's try this again.

Got the raw of Inuyasha episode 124 on Monday. It kicks gluteus to the maximus. The mix of "Sotsugyou" was different from the version I'd downloaded a couple weeks ago, but it was indeed that song which played at the end. And, spurred by their new Tackey & Tsubasa fixation, apparently said group is going to do the fifth opening in two months. The whole pop tune thing coupled with the name captioning seems to indicate that they're trying to attract new viewers, even when the series is this far into the plotline. Just as long as ratings don't fall anymore, the anime should be okay. I'd just really like to see the current events in the manga animated (*cough*Kongousouha*cough).

As for episode 124 itself, I thought the song was an okay touch. Apparently the Japanese fans didn't terribly care for it because it's a fairly well-known song, plus they associate it with a digital camera commercial. But, being an American, I neither knew the song very well nor had I seen said commercial, so it was all good. Amusingly, the coolest part of the episode was, of all things, Sesshoumaru's exit. It wasn't a very flashy exit; he just walked away. But the shading in that scene and the music build at that point just made that one little shot come across as really neat. My only serious gripe with that episode was that damned "Itazurana Kiss". I never liked it as an ending song to begin with, and it seemed like a severely inappropriate way to end this episode. "Kikyou is dead... WHEEEEE!!!" Come to think of it, "Grip!" isn't a very appropriate opening anymore, either, considering all the Shichinitai are now dead.

Only three more days until I go back to school. I fear for the construction I will have to endure. Maybe I'll get lucky, as I often do. I just hope gas prices don't go up any more before I leave. That would be icky.

Oh yeah. Complaining gets things done! But only one thing at a time, apparently. Fine, I'll just leave it to one thing today. FGF. I would appreciate it if you realesed 121 before I leave for school, since getting episodes once I'm there is going to be much more painful and difficult. ... That's not really a complaint so much as a request. Do I actually have to complain to get it done? Well, if it's not rectified within a day, per the usual, I'll give complaining a shot instead. I know Anime-Kraze already has their version of 121 out, but... well... I don't really care for their multicolored and animated text, plus FGF's subs are easier on the eyes in general.

The Patches has spoken.

"Cast in the name of God, ye not intelligent."  Saturday, August 23, 2003 10:44 p.m.

Well, Mom's back from her trip in a bad mood, and since my sister's currently gone on her own trip, guess who gets to feel the brunt of her complaining? Hint: it's not the cats. Sigh...

Well, my first complaint last week was rectified as usual, as FGF did indeed get episode 120 out that day. Chris, on the other hand, has yet to update the page, even now. Maybe it was because I tried asking for too many things at once. So sorry. At least I got a raw copy of episode 123, which I was actually able to understand without a problem (except for one line, which Setsuani helpfully filled me in on during her weekly episode babble). Now I just need to get the raw of 124 on Monday, so I can watch Kikyou-maiming goodness to my heart's content. Well, Fluffy'll get his butt kicked in that episode, too, but not nearly as badly. He just wanders off and angsts for the next couple of volumes. And the new episodes start on CN on Monday, too, so I can watch the dub in all its mispronounced campyness.

Umm... what else have I done? I finally scanned a page from the Inuyasha coloring book, but haven't done anything with it yet. Finally updated Ansem Leap for the first time in months, and am now completely stuck, for I can't write the next chapter without an inkling of what the following chapter is going to be. All because I've never actually played Final Fantasy IX, but really should work it in there somewhere. Heck, I even know how the last chapter of that fic is going to go, now that I've unearthed my tape of the final episode of Quantum Leap. Hey, I can't let the Disney and Square references steal the WHOLE show ^_^*. Quantum Leap IS the fic's underlying joke, after all. Too bad most of the reviewers don't seem to realize this (I'd think they'd have different reactions if they did, but the show IS over ten years old, which might explain lack of familiarity), but on the upside, the lack of getting the underlying joke doesn't seem to detract from enjoying the story. I guess understanding the QL references are just the icing on the cake, but is not completely necessary.

Insert witty quote here.  Monday, August 18, 2003 12:52 a.m.

::yawn::

That pretty much sums up the week. My mom's out of town at some yoga monestary and my sister's working every day, pretty much leaving me alone with the cats, who really aren't much conversation. Thus, I couldn't think of a quote to use as the title, since my family is not really known as a storehouse of witty dialogue, and even if they were, I hardly see them anymore. Yup, pretty boring. I'm looking forward to school starting again, simply because of the prospect of actually needing to do something.

Um... yeah. Nothing new's happened to me, but I guess there's some new Inuyasha news. The song "Sotsugyou ~ Sayonara wa Ashita no Tame ni" will play somewhere in episode 124. Why they figured they needed a pop tune for Kikyou's "death" scene rather than just have Kaoru Wada come up with something is beyond me, but... meh. Also, it's been confirmed that there will be flashbacks to younger versions of Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru in the third movie. I hope Sesshoumaru is at least noticeably younger, since I really have no idea how quickly he ages.

Speaking of Inuyasha, I guess I'd better complain. FGF... get episode 120 out. Chris... get scans of chapter 324 up. The last time I complained, it was rectified within the hour, which is unusually fast for a complaint in this blog, but I usually see results within a day, regardless. Let's see if this holds true yet again. However, my very expectations of the matter might nullify the pattern ^_^*. Ah well. Can't have everything.

Sorry if I sound a little tired, but, well... it's 1:00 in the morning, what did you expect? Beddy bye time, I'm thinking. ::yawn again::

"I guess I'm just not stupid enough."  Wednesday, August 13, 2003 06:34 p.m.

Hello, it's me again. I would have updated sooner, but... uh... nothing terribly exciting has been going on that's worth mentioning. Plus I've been too distracted by the call of the oekaki. What a vicious little toy that thing is. Hee hee.

Well, I know things happen if I complain about them in here, so let's complain. Chris! Update the Inuyasha manga translation, darn it! Gah, it's really gotten back into the plot at this point, and I'm always antsy waiting all week to read the next part. It doesn't help that there was no new chapter released in Japan this week, meaning it'll be even longer before we see any more.

Let's see... after unearthing my cryp sheet of the Final Fantasy Unlimited alphbet system, I discovered that apparently the way to romanize Sorujasshii's name is "Soljashy". That's kinda... dumb... but I guess it's what I'm gonna have to go with. Poor briefcase man with his random English has a dumbly-spelled name.

Think... I can't think of anything else noteworthy. The doujin's all finished up, but that doesn't mean it won't see minor revisions from time to time if I realize I've made a bonehead translation error somewhere (which has already happened a number of times). So, that's it. I guess I'll go back to staring at the wall for a while, because I really don't have anything to do. Blah.

"That restaurant doesn't look very eat in-able."  Friday, August 8, 2003 04:37 p.m.

Yay! My Inuyasha CD came! W00t for the ridiculously long-titled, "Wind - Inuyasha Koukyourenga - Symphonic Theme Collection"! Inuyasha goes Boston Pops (well, technically it's Japan Philharmonic, but still). What could be better?

I need to scan some pages from my Inuyasha coloring book. Because... it's an Inuyasha coloring book. It's so ridiculously dorky, it's cool. There's an image in it of Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru fighting, and not only does Sesshoumaru have a left hand, he's using Tenseiga to fight. However, I think there was a calendar picture that had a similar problem.

I've been skimming through "Final Fantasy Unlimited: After" to see if I can pick up the general gist of the story. Apparently Sorujasshi/Soldier C/whatever really likes to break into random English. And I still have no idea what "doruku" is referring to. There's also two characters named Borisoff and Natalia, and I'm thinking, okay, who's been watching Rocky and Bullwinkle? I haven't come across a Biggs and Wedge, but that doesn't mean they're not in there. I did only skim it, after all. Oh, and apparently Kaze summons Knights of the Round at the end. Thank god we didn't have to sit through THAT stock footage in the show. I'll need to finish up the Inu doujin promptly so I can move on to "After". "After" should hopefully be a lot easier to translate, mostly because it's printed text, and standard grammar. But there's also no images to go off of, so that might prove a little tricky.

Oekaki!  Wednesday, August 6, 2003 09:02 p.m.

Yay! I got an oekaki BBS! There's a link to it at the bottom of each entry (where the "add a comment" link for any other blog would be -_-), so it shouldn't be too hard to find. If you've never used one before, I'll explain. Basically, you can comment on other people's drawings (or just say whatever in the comments section) or add your own. To add your own, there's a little menu at the top where you can choose the format of your applet (simple or full), the dimensions of the image, and some other options. Then, click "Paint". It'll show an ad for a couple of seconds, then you'll get the applet, which works pretty much like MS Paint (and I'm going to assume you know how to use that). When you're done doodling and coloring, click "Save", and then it'll take you to a screen where you can title the picture, put your name and e-mail, and make a comment on your drawing. Then submit that, and it's all ready to be shown! It's not that hard, it just takes some getting used to and some messing around.

Anysplat, Christy just gave me my souveniers, so I'm off to go play with those. But first, I really should finish translating my doujinshi before moving on to the next MASSIVE translation project one of the souveniers has presented (not that I mind, I just don't want to leave Inu unfinished when it's so close to the end). So, um, yeah. Doodle away!

"Ano... Jako, kimochi ii desu ka? Moko-moko..."  Monday, August 4, 2003 09:39 p.m.

Blargity blargity blog. Let's see, what have I been up to? Finally went to see Pirates over the weekend. It was cool. Jack could quite possibly win the Stylish Entrance Ever Award.

Then... what did I do? There was a baby shower on Sunday, where I was sick, so didn't really have a good time. But we did play frisbee with a paper plate. And we wanted to go on the swings, but the playground at the park had been taken over by a swarm of bees. Not fun.

So, tomorrow I'm gonna head over to the Detroit airport to see everyone back from Japan, since I haven't seen them in, like, three months now. It should be happy, provided it doesn't storm on me or something. But even that shouldn't be too bad. And then I get to take my grandparents to the Grand Rapids airport the following morning. I'm just gonna be airport-hopping for the next couple of days! What fun!

Oh yeah! The first episode of Big O 2 was on last night! Well, technically, it's episode 14, but still. It was really fun and trippy, and it had gargoyles in it. Hi, Brooklyn! FLCL and Blue Gender start tonight. And then it's rise and shine for airport trip of happyness!

My mom's watching a really loud movie upstairs. I think it's "Sweet Home Alabama", the same thing my sister was watching really loudly last night. I recognize that persistant dog barking. Sigh... At least my sister changed her MP3 playlist for the first time in two months. If she's going to blast music every day, the least she could do is blast different music every day.

I have suddenly decided that I want an oekaki BBS. I mean, this blog has no place for reader comments, unfortunately, so if I'm going to have a BBS, I might as well have a fun and happy-interactive one. Unfortunately, oekakies.com is experiencing too much server traffic at the moment, so isn't accepting new registrations. Doh.

"Well, I'm now higher on the food chain than God. Now what?"  Thursday, July 31, 2003 09:44 p.m.

Laa. So, I gots me some car insurance, I gots me the title to the car, and I gots me a new license plate, so I guess that means I gots me my own mess on my hands. Yessir.

So, apparently tomorrow my mom's gonna take me to do whatever I want, like go to a movie and dinner or something. Maybe I can even force her to go bowling! Because, for some reason... I'd really like to go bowling. Except bowling alleys always smell like smoke, which is icky. Is there such a thing as a non-smoking bowling alley? Sure would make my day. Maybe I could settle for mini golf, provided it's not raining (I wouldn't mind a thunderstorm, either, so either way...).

Man, I really should stop reading Japanese message boards and spoiling myself. There's a board that I lurk on that comments on each Inuyasha episode and manga chapter the day it's released, so I can get an early scoop on them. The episodes I don't really mind reading about, since I know what happens in them anyway because of the manga. The manga chapters, on the other hand... Plus, even though this person's comments are funny, they're still really vague and written in a "I'm assuming you've read this, too, so you'll get the joke" sort of way. But noooo, I can't read it until Sengoku o-Togi Zoushi posts it. So, it's all I can do to read, "Wow, that was neat, wasn't it?" and then proceed to wait a week wondering what was so neat.

On a related note, I just finished watching the second Inuyasha movie. Hooray for another glorified filler episode! For some reason, I get kinda irritated at filler stories based on "real" myths, especially the Kaguya-hime story, since it's used a LOT. But at least it was an interesting way to have an original villain for the majority of the movie, but still have Naraku be the main villain overall. And Kagome and Inuyasha kissed. Woo. They really shouldn't. And, you know, there's one other thing that bothers me about original villains. How come they're always someone that someone related to the main cast sealed away a long time ago, but just now broke free? I mean, why can't they ever be someone who JUST NOW came to power? If half the third movie is devoted to the quest to unseal some evil force (and that "Sou'unga" is already a prime candidate for that) like the first two were, I'm gonna smack someone. And Sesshoumaru was in it even less than the first movie! He had not even three seconds of screentime (not counting the random still image of him in the end credits), and didn't even have any lines. At least Kikyou wasn't in it much, either, but she still got to do something important. Sesshoumaru basically had a "Look! I exist! 'Kay, bye" scene, which was even more pointless than his presence in the first movie. So, I reiterate from my rant on the other movie: If you're going to put a character in a movie, have them do something worthwhile, or just leave them out completely. Come to think of it, Myouga fell into that category this time around, too. And another thing: What the heck happened to Kagura and Kanna? Last I saw, they were drowning in a lake... and then they were never mentioned again. I mean, they're obviously okay, since movies can't kill off canon characters, but... how did they get out of there? Or did Naraku just make a new Kagura and Kanna and no one's been the wiser? But, man, I need to get a screenshot of that chibi crayon Naraku in the ending. Because chibi crayon Naraku > j00.

"'Extreme' like Roger was suddenly snowboarding and Dastun had his hat on backwards."  Tuesday, July 29, 2003 02:50 p.m.

Don't ask. I just found that quote on the message boards quite amusing.

And, once again, I have learned that complaining in this blog about not having something is good. Because now I have all three Tenshi ni Narumon soundtracks, my credit was restored, and so the Inuyasha CD is ordered and on the way. Whee!

Now all I need to do is complain about my dad telling me to find car insurance comparable to what I already have, yet not actually TELLING me what I already have. So, I ended up having to make up all the numbers when asking for quotes, and ended not getting any worthwhile information, since I guess it was obvious I had no idea what I was talking about. We're supposed to meet for dinner about it tomorrow, but he neglected to specify where. And he never answers the phone, so getting clearer directions is becoming rather frustrating. So, hopefully by complaining in here, that'll all get worked out.

There was a promo for Big O 2 on last night, which is actually what the title quote is referring to. It was neat. The FLCL and Blue Gender promos aired as well. There's gonna be lots of new stuff coming down the pipe next week. FLCL is a tad too much crack for me, and I wasn't terribly excited about Naota's voice in the promo, but I'll probably give it a watch, given that it's only six episodes.

Geh, I don't want to go to the dentist. Tis an evil place.

"I can't believe I ate the whole thing..."  Saturday, July 26, 2003 12:42 p.m.

Blat of blattyness. And stuff. After countless attempts, I was FINALLY able to get the third Tenshi ni Narumon soundtrack off of IRC. Unfortunately, one of the tracks was corrupted, but the rest is okay, which is good enough for me. Now I only need the rest of the second soundtrack and I'll be all set. These soundtracks are so darn RARE, though. The company that published them went out of buisness, so they're pretty much impossible to buy. And it' such good music, too!

I got through the Naraku story in my doujin, despite my lack of knowledge of Detective Conan and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, both of which were referenced in it. At least I knew enough about the two series to KNOW they were references. I've been lazy getting to the last story, since it's serious and about Miroku, two things which aren't terribly exciting to me.

This morning I awoke to a happy, plump cat on the doorstep, along with a not-so-happy thinned-out rabbit that was missing most of its upper body. Given her lazy attitude, age, and recent injury, I didn't think she was capable of catching anything anymore, but I guess I was wrong. Hopefully she doesn't get a bunny bellyache. She seems to be sleeping it off right now. Ah well. She needs to put on a couple of pounds, anyway.

Stupid car. It's still haunting me. Thankfully, it hasn't broken again (knock on wood), but the repairs pushed my credit card over its limit, so I can't use the card until the old balance is paid off, which should happen sometime next week, if the mail's fast enough. Which sucks, because I REALLY want the new Inuyasha CD, "Wind". I mean I want this CD in the same desperate way that I don't want children. It's annoying that I'll have to wait a week to order it, now that I've heard audio samples and was completely blown away by them (there's a link to them in the title). The guy who did Big O's music arranged one of the tracks, and I could tell, too ^_^*.

Grr, c'mon Sengoku o-Togi Zoushi! Get the next manga chapters up! I happened upon a Japanese message board that commented on the latest chapters, and apparently Fluffers is FINALLY doing something important again (but that's about as detailed as the comment got -_-). Still no word on where the heck Kouga ran off to, though. I'm downloading episodes 117 and 118 now, though, so that should tide me over for a while.

I've got dinner with the gang tonight. Hopefully I can find the place. I hardly ever go downtown. Ah well, I'll get there eventually.

Whee on the updates! BOTH the Inuyasha doujinshi translation and the Thumbnail Theatre to your left have seen an update today. The doujin's only got two stories left before completion, and FFU's up to episode 11. Look at me make progress! Progress is happy! The Naraku story is next, and since I already have that one completely translated in my head (plus it's only three pages long), that one'll likely be up tomorrow. But, right now, it's Big O time, and then bedtime, so I'll leave it at that for now.

Wow, this could possibly be my shortest blog entry ever. I hate saying things when I have nothing to say. But the updates merited the post, so here ya go.

"Is this the story about the infamous 4-foot chain?"  Sunday, July 20, 2003 10:40 p.m.

Back from Chicago. Again. My cousin had a house-warming party over the weekend, so we all trekked back to Chicago (to the exact same neighborhood as the wedding, even) to party down. Okay, not really, we just ate and talked. And I got to hear more weird stories about my grandpa and my dad's side of the family in general. Why is it that all my relatives except my parents are somewhat interesting? It could be because I don't see them as often, but my parents really don't do a whole lot, regardless. Actually got stuck in traffic, but, hey, it's Chicago. It's to be expected, even with me. But we didn't get in as bad a traffic jam as the cars on the other side (I swear, they must've been backed up for at least 15 miles. Ha ha! ... I mean...). And my car survived the three-hour trips there and back, so hopefully that means it's healthy again.

Did a little more work on my doujinshi. I added a link to it on the side, as well as the FFU Thumbnail Theatre, since I seem to mention updating those a lot. I've only got three more stories left in that doujin! It's been a long haul, but it's fun. Besides, that book may be long, but it's a lot more practical than getting "Gatten Shouchi", "Dog Fight", and "Shikisoku Zekuu" separately. I'll probably finish it up just in time for everyone to come back from Japan and bestow upon me even more things to translate! Yay!

So, car's back again. Turned out its problem this time was that the light bulb in the glove box never turned off, so was just sitting there drawing a quarter amp for a couple of days. I guess that would drain the battery, but even if they didn't work on the glove box before, it DID only start doing that after I got it back from them the last time. Sigh... $50 to change a light bulb. Blaahhhh.

Saw "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" a couple days ago. It was weird, but entertaining. The action sequences were a tad too fast-paced to tell what the heck was going on sometimes (especially the one in Gray's house, where each member was doing his own thing, but you could never tell who was fighting who). Ah well. I enjoyed it, although I feel kind of bad that, even though Alan Quartermain is the main character, he's the only one whom I have no idea what book he came from. Plus, my usual luck held true and my favorite character didn't die.

Speaking of movies, there was ideed Inuyasha movie news on Wednesday. Looks like the fansite I'd gone to earlier got it right, since the official title is indeed "Tenkahadou no Ken", and given the new story summary, "Sword to Rule the World" sounds like a pretty decent translation of the title. Granted, now that I've read the summary, I'm kind of wary of what the writers hope to accomplish with this film, considering they're apparently introducing a third fang-sword, the Sou'unga. They're gonna have to get creative to make that one believable. Ah well. We'll see what happens. Hopefully there'll be a new trailer in the near future, because the old one is decidedly uninformative.

I got through another ten or so pages of my Inuyasha doujinshi this afternoon. I'm over halfway done with it now! Woo! And the next story in the book is that goofy one about Sesshoumaru's nightmare about Rin's taste in men, which I've already mostly translated in my head, so that one should go pretty quickly (except for that last line of Inuyasha's, which I'm still trying to figure out).

Well, the cat wants to cuddle, so I guess I should humor her. At least she's not sick again now that the car's better (knock on wood).

"At least this fuzzy makes me feel so much better!"  Monday, July 14, 2003 09:49 p.m.

Once again, I shall start out my blog entry with a very simple statement: Argh.

My car is now BACK in the shop (this is the third time just this week). We seem to be alternating between car and cat being broken, and it's car's turn again. It seems that when they replaced the A/C compressor, they created a short in the car's electrical system, thus killing the battery in about a day. So, my car would not start this morning when I decided to go job hunting again. The world is out to get me this summer. And I usually have such good luck with the car, too (or maybe it's only traffic luck). So, hopefully I won't get charged for whatever they do (since this mishap kinda HAS to be their fault. The compressor dying the day after they worked on the car I can pass of as coincidence, but a year-old battery going dead is another matter entirely). So, I hope this is the LAST time I'll have to take the car in for a while. I also hope that the cat doesn't get sick again once I get it back.

So, I need to go rant to Hayes about putting freshmen guys on our floor. I mean, come on. If they HAD to put guys on our floor, the LEAST they could do was make them upperclassmen so we wouldn't have to worry about the fresh-outta-high-school hot-heads thinking they can get away with anything. But, for some reason, making sure the upperclass guys got the room numbers they requested takes precedence over the girls' safety.

The internet's been down all day today again, and only came back a half hour ago. Dumb thing. Which leaves me with even less to do during the day, now that I am once again sans vehicle. The digital cable's still out, too, but at least I still get regular cable in my room so I can still tape Big O.

In case you're wondering, the title quote does indeed come from an episode of Inuyasha, and is indeed a reference to Sesshoumaru's fur thingy. It was definitely one of the more... random lines of dialogue that did not originally occur in the manga. And it still didn't reveal whether that fluffy thing is actually part of his body or just a pelt. I couldn't tell whether it was the fluffy or his arm that was bleeding when Jakotsu sliced him up in episode 116. Maybe the third movie will lay to rest the mystery of the fluffy thing. I'll know more after Wednesday. Provided the internet works -_-.

Page archived again, so it's time to switch title avatars. Okay, actually, cause and effect are reversed in that statement, but both indeed have occured. So, this time around I've gone old-school with a twist, letting Jadarin hang out on the main page for a while. Except he's got his rockin' new outfit that he uses in the second half of SGB (which... I haven't gotten to yet -_-). I didn't expect him to look quite so... cute. ^_^*. It looks like he's saying, "Hello, I'm a sleepy demon. Cuddle me."

Er, other than that, I don't really have much to say, other than I bid you admire the new picture. My internet connection's been down all day, so lack of penguin-launching gave me time necessary to complete the new image (which was once again done completely in Photoshop with a mouse). So, um, yeah. Life's not too exciting at home, so updating this thing daily doesn't really have much merit.
